For example : Lemons : Lemons contain acid, but when they are broken down, they form alkaline nutrients, therefore they are considered alkaline forming foods. Same with grapefruits, oranges and pineapples. A balanced diet should contain a mixture of alkaline forming nutrients and of acidic forming nutrients.
